Good news for cyclists

GreenBike.jpgGood news for all you bikers out there!

The League of American Bicyclists awarded Coeur d'Alene as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Judging from the site, the designation is based on the amount of pathways for bikers, biking education in schools and the percentage of people who commute on bikes. You can learn more about it here.

We're really fortunate to have so much support for outdoor activities here. With the Centennial Trail and beautiful surroundings, we really are a great place to bike. I can't even name all of the races and triathlons in the area. I know there's Ironman, the Coeur d'Alene Tri, Hayden Tri, Race the River, and a ton more!

Not only do we have the support of the city and races, we have several bike shops.

Terra Sports

Vertical Earth

Mountain View Cyclery & Fitness

I'm sure there are more in the area that I'm not familiar with, but these three are by far my favorite. All for different things. Terra has a great selection of bikes; everything from road, tri and cruisers. Alex, the manager, is really knowledgeable and even offers indoor cycling classes on the weekends.I go to Vertical Earth a lot for accessories, although Terra has gained a lot of ground in this area. They're also very knowledgeable and a little bigger when it comes to staff and space and they also have a great selection.Mountain View Cyclery is the smallest of the three, and is located in Hayden vs. Downtown. My husband went to them a lot when he was rebuilding his cruiser and they were great with helping him order parts. All three places have helpful staff and get to know you as a customer. Love the small-town atmosphere.Keep on biking, North Idaho-ers! We're in good hands.
