Why You'll Love It
Floating the Boise River is one of those experiences that perfectly captures summer in Idaho.

Along the way, you'll pass parks, Boise State University, river bridges, and some of the city's best green spaces. It's a relaxing way to spend an afternoon while still feeling like you're on an adventure.
The current generally keeps you moving at a comfortable pace, with a handful of small rapids adding just enough excitement without making the float intimidating for most people.
If you're in no rush, pull into one of the calm eddies along the way to relax on a sandy beach or try one of the rope swings that dot the riverbanks.
Getting Started
Nearly everyone begins their float at Barber Park, located just east of downtown Boise off Warm Springs Avenue.
The park offers:
Ample parking
A designated drop-off area
Easy river access
Restrooms
If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent rafts or tubes and purchase a shuttle ride back to Barber Park through Boise River Raft & Tube.
If you're bringing your own raft or tube, floating the river is free, though donations are encouraged to help maintain the parks and river access points.
Know Before You Go
Float season depends on river flows and usually runs from mid- to late June through Labor Day.
Always check current conditions before heading out.
Wear or bring a properly fitted life jacket (PFD), especially for children.
Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
Wear clothing and footwear that can get wet.
Secure phones, keys, and other valuables in a waterproof bag or dry box.
The river current changes throughout the summer and can move faster earlier in the season.
Is It Worth It?
