Oktoberfests Galore!
If you ask me, there's no better time to be in the Northwest than right now. Period. End of story.
But, since I need to have a better post than that, here's a story for you :).
This weekend there's two very fun Oktoberfests.
Daanen's Deli hosts an awesome family event, with games, music and of course great food and beer. The kids can play, there's free admission and brats like you wouldn't believe. Like the photo says, it's from noon to 7 p.m. tomorrow. We bought an awesome mug there last year. We don't bring it out very often, but when we do I feel like an official beer drinker, no rookie here.
The downtown Oktoberfest kicks off tonight at 4:30 and tomorrow at 12:30. You can purchase your tickets at the Plaza Shops on Sherman for $15. They do sell out though so buy tickets early! There's over 20 beers to sample this year.
There's live music, German food and beer sampling at the shops, Splash, All Things Irish, Christmas at the Lake, Tiffany Blue, Angel Gallery, the Velvet Hanger, and at the large tent on 2nd. This year they're also including a family area at the Sherman Park with activities, food and drinks for the kiddos. There will be face painting, a bouncy castle (does that have to be just for kids?) and performances from the kids at Sorensen. This year's music will feature the Sammy Eubanks Band, Oom Pas & Mas and the Rhythm Dawgs (a personal fav).
Last year was my first time at both events and I can tell you from personal experience that they both rock. It will be a big beer-drinkin' weekend for me! Hope to see you all there!
