A little cabin time
It's amazing how a little time away can make you feel recharged and give you a positive boost. In an ideal world, I would be telling you an amazing story about an awesome trip we went on over Labor Day weekend, but in actuality, Kyle had to work on Saturday, I wanted to finish painting the house, and my parents needed me to feed their cat while they were out of town. Such is life. Luckily for us, we were able to sneak away for a fun one-nighter at Kyle's parent's cabin out in Squaw Bay.
Megan and Dylan, along with their pups Bear and Bea, came out for a day of rest and relaxation. In one day we managed to fit in a barbecue, archery practice, a hike, bike ride, more barbecuing, and fetch in the lake. All and all I'd say it was a successful trip.
It's been a while since I practiced my archery skills. A few years ago, Kyle and I bought a couple bows off Craigslist and set up some hay bales and a target in my parents' back yard. Well, a couple of moves and a few summers have gone by and we're finally starting to get back into it again. I really need to take my bow into a pro and learn about setting up the sights correctly. My goal is to eventually move on to a recurve bow - I think that will be much harder.
After a little bit of shooting, Kyle and Dylan opted to go bike Trail 257, along Beauty Creek. Juneau and I opted for a little hike I've been wanting to try - the Beauty Bay recreation area.
While the view was beautiful, I was disappointed in the hike. It was a short half-mile loop attached to a parking lot/barbecue area. It was kept up beautifully, but I was hoping for a bit more of a workout after eating a big breakfast.
We enjoyed our little hike nonetheless, it's always nice to get out a try a new spot. I hope you all had a great holiday weekend!
