Take an awesome trip to Cannon Beach, OR

Road Trip: Cannon Beach, Part 1

I’ve been wanting to take a trip to Oregon for well over a year and we finally made the 464 mile trek to Cannon Beach in April. I know, I know, this post is a little late. But with travel and camping season in full swing, I feel like it's still relevant. (Psst... You can check out Kyle's video from the trip here.) We made the tough decision to leave Juneau at home this trip. Because neither of us had ever been…

Road Trip: Leavenworth, Part 2

Our trip to Leavenworth wasn't just for shopping and sightseeing. The main purpose for the trip was to check out their Oktoberfest, and boy did it deliver. Talk about a big party, there were hundreds, if not thousands, of people there for opening week. There were 4-5 entertainment areas full of tables and seats and a constant rotation of musicians and other acts, all thoroughly entertaining.   I have to say the biggest let down of the whole night was the…

This Weekend: Oktoberfest 2014

It's that time of year again! Time to kick off fall right with about a thousand different options for Oktoberfest. Last year we did (what seemed like) an Oktoberfest marathon. I'm hoping this year will be a bit more low key, but I guess we'll find out soon enough! Here's the low-down for your Oktoberfest weekend(s): Daanen's Deli Oktoberfest Daanen's is hosting their 21st annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, beginning at noon. The admission is free and they'll have live music,…

This Weekend: Fall Races and Oktoberfests Kick-off

It seems like there are two distinct race seasons in North Idaho 1. Early summer (May - early July) 2. Fall (September - October) So, we pretty much have August off. Except for the Cd'A Tri. Forgot about that one. I have to admit, the fall races are my favorite. Even though the earlier races include Ironman, the Cd'A Marathon and Hayden Triathlon, athletes go into those races having to worry about heat and probably didn't get to train in the…

Kayaking the Payette River – Wrap-up to our Boise Weekend

This is a long time coming considering Kyle and Kendrich completed their race a little over two weeks ago. How is June already almost over!? Craziness... I was expecting two half-Ironman finishers to be pretty beat for a while following the race. And they were... for like, a day. So what did we do our last two days in town? Hiked around Tablerock and whitewater kayaked the Payette River. [caption id="attachment_1510" align="alignnone" width="625"] Had I seen what was ahead, I wouldn't…
