Road Trip: Cannon Beach, Part 2, Ecola State Park

This is the second part of our trip to Cannon Beach in April. You can read part 1 here. View Kyle's video of our trip here. There's no way we can go on a vacation and not explore the local hiking scene - it's just not possible. Earlier this week I shared the first part of our trip to Cannon Beach which involved a sweet lodge and lots of good food. Today I'm sharing my favorite part, our hike in Ecola…

Hiking to Fern Falls - Stuck in North Idaho

Take a Hike | Fern Falls

There are several famous waterfalls across the United States. Niagara, Yosemite and Multnomah, just to name a few. For us, that's been Marie Creek.  We have hiked this trail two other times (here and here) and got to the same spot both times. Never made it beyond the creek. Until now... I think I expected the trail to…

Road Trip: Leavenworth, Part 3

Shop and sight see... check. Party at Oktoberfest... check. Explore the beautiful mountains and river... here we go! Due to the craziness of the Leavenworth Marathon, we were unable to hike Icicle River like we initially planned, but thanks to a knowledgeable employee at Leavenworth Mountain Sports, we decided to hike Penstock Trail, just a couple miles west of town.  I am SO glad we did! We actually hiked the trail twice. That's how beautiful it was. On Saturday morning, Kyle…
